About:Chinese Consulate in Calgary

My Husband Arthur Tovstiga(German Cityzen landed Immigrant status) and I Valentine Tovstiga( Canadian)are disembarking from the cruise ship Princess Cruise in Shanghai and
flying out of Shanghai within 6 hrs to Canada.
Please advise us about a single entry visa
Do we need one or are we exempt.?

I think you don't need a visa, but do confirm with the local China Embassy again.
