About:China Train

Hello,

I am planning on travelling through China in Dec 2009. Hong Kong-Shanghai-Xian-Beijing-Hong Kong. I would like to travel on the soft sleeper train class. Can someone please advise if I would be able to secure these type of train tickets about 2 days before each travel leg, at the respective train stations. Is this period considered to be peak travel time in China?

Hi,

Dec is travel low season in China since the weather is cold. In China, train tickets are sold from 7 to 10 days prior to the departure date. To secure the availability, you can book it from the hotel. Most hotels can buy tickets for their clients.
