About:Chinese Embassy in Canada

I am canadian and am going to India via China Eastern. my connecting flight for new delhi is after 9 hrs. Can I get transit visa at Podung airport and spend some time sightseeing in Shanghai. Do I have to apply for the visa in Canada or at Podung airport.

Visas are not required of Canadian citizens who transit through Pudong Airport or Hongqiao Airport of Shanghai, provided they hold valid passports, visas for the onward countries, final destination tickets and have booked seats, and stay in Shanghai for less than 48 hours.
