About:Embassy of Grenada in China

Hello,
My friend is the resident and holding the PRC passport, he have a ticket and need to transit at the Grenada airport with two different airline less than 11 hours.
As the policy, Chinese need to apply visa for visit, but in this case if my friend only transit at the airport, do he still need to apply any visa?
