we are planning to visit xian from shanghai sometime in april. please recommend what is the best way to go there? if by train, how do we buy tickets? thanks!

Both train and flight are acceptable. The train of Shanghai/Xian is overnight and it is comfortable with the soft sleeper berth. Flight is fast and the airfare is just a little more than a train's soft-sleeper in April.
