About:Apply for China Visa in a Third Country

Hello,
I have am a US passport holder with Singapore PR. I plan to visit my grandmother in Shenzhen for a week. The China Consulate here in Singapore requires a "certificate of relationship" for the visa application. What is this certificate and how do I go about obtaining one? Thank you.

The certificate that can prove the relationship between you and your grandmother. I know it is difficult for you to get such a certificate. Generally speaking, the certificate of relationaship means birth certificate, marriage license.

Mr. Charles,
Thank you for your reply. I am single so don't have a marriage certificate, I don't have my birth certificate here with me and, in any case, it does not mention my grandmother's name. There must be some way I can obtain a visa while I'm abroad. Back home in the U.S. a certificate of relationship is not required so I've never had this problem. Thanks again for your help.

Now, I understand that it is hard for you get a certificate of relationship, so you can change the purpose of coming to China on the visa applicationfrom, just for tourism, then you don't need to provide the certificate. But the Round trip airline ticket and hotel reservation should be provided.
