About:Chinese Embassy in U.S.A.

I arrive on Northwest Airlines at Shanghai airport (PVG) at 7:10 p.m. (19:10) on Sunday, 6 December, visit 10 of mys tudents who are studying at Shanghai University, and fly out of Shanghai airport (PVG) at 11:50 a.m. (11:50) on Tuesday, 8 Decmber. Therefore I will be in China (only Shanghai) for less than 48 hours. Can you confirm that I will NOT need a visa? I have a U.S. passport.
