About:Hong Kong Flights

I need to travel from Wenzhou to Hong Kong on October 19, 2009. So far, I have taken domestic flights in China for the past 3 days and am finding out that all the flights have been delayed by almost an hour up to 3 hours. On October 19th, I am currently booked on flight Air China 1953 from Wenzhou to Changsha at 4:00 - 5:25 PM. My next flight is Dragonair 721 from Changsha to Hong Kong at 7:10 - 8:50 PM. Do you think this combination of flights is possible to make? So far, the people at Changsha are telling me that Dragonair closes all flights 40 minutes prior to departure, and I am worried that if the first flight is late, then I will not be able to make the 2nd flight and will be stuck in Changsha. Do you have any recommendations as to a safer bet for flights? Should I try to fly from Wenzhou to a bigger airport like in Shanghai? How much time should I allow to make the connection? Will it be possible to obtain both boarding passes for different airlines at the same time? About my prior post from Wenzhou to Hong Kong, I forgot to mention that I cannot leave earlier than 2:30 PM from Wenzhou.

Generally, it is better for you to leave more than two hours for the flights' transfer. Since from 5:25 to 7:10, there is less than two hours left which is really a little pressing for you to transfer. Personally, you would better rearrange your flight. And I checked that all the flights from Shanghai to Hong Kong are available in the morning, which is not suitable for you since you mentioned that you can not leave for Wenzhou earlier than 2:30 PM.

Thus, you can stay one night in Changsha then take the flight to Hong Kong the next day. Or, you can try to arrange your post well before and choose the flight departing form Wenzhou at 13:00 and arriving in Changsha at 14:20. In that case, you do not need worry about delaying the next flight.

Nowadays many airlines provide multi check-in service such as mobile check-in, web check-in and self-service check-in service. You can consult the two airlines whether they provide such service. I think this will save you some time.

Thank you for your helpful feedback. I really appreciate it. I ended up changing my flights on that day and will fly from Wenzhou to Shanghai Hongqiao Airport and then have a connecting flight to Hong Kong 4 hours later at Shanghai Pudong. I feel much better about this combination of flights. Thank you once again! This is a wonderful forum!
