(1) My family will be visiting shantou in Dec 09 on a free and easy trip, would appreciate recommendation on contacts for local tour guide / taxi driver to bring us around. I would like to book the tour guide / taxi driver in advance.(2) Is it recommended to spend a night at Nan-ao island?Thanks in advance.

nope.  Ended up I spent jus 2 days at Shantou, and went back to Chao Zhou.  We enjoyed ourselves more at our countryside, than Shantou.  Our room airconditioning at Golden Gulf was extremely hot.  Which hotel are u staying?
