About:Bao'en Temple Pagoda

Hi, I’ve been in china for six years, was with the same employer (a university) and had to quickly find a new employer due to the five year working rule being sprung on me in the summer. I somewhat hastily agreed to go into a so called partnership with a Chinese businesswoman who wanted to set up her own small school. She used her guanxi to get me a visa through a hotel, where I am the pseudo-hr training director. My problem is this - I have no contract, not with the businesswoman nor the hotel, and things have gone somewhat sour with the businesswoman. My wife is Chinese, so I'm wondering: (1) if I can go onto a marriage visa, and earn a living as a teacher? (2) How easy/possible it is to get another job/z visa without the letter of recommendation from this businesswoman. (3) What happens if the hotel cancels my visa?
Much appreciated,
Aly.

1)You can apply for a visa for family visit because your wife is Chinese
2) You can find another job with the letter of recommendation from your former university or without recommendation. The recommendation is not important in China. Your degree is important.
3) The hotel can't cancel your visa, but he can go to the local public security bureau to ask the police to cancel your visa. If this bad thing happens, you will be expelled from China, therefore, you'd better apply for a L visa for family visit before bad thing takes place.

it seems so complicated, but you can apply for a Family visit visa, since your wife are Chinese. Meanwhile, the visa applied through the hotel will expire automatically when you get the new family visit visa.

thanks for your reply Mr john nash!
i no longer have the letter of recommendation as i used it to get the job i am presently in.

someone told me last night that in chengdu, where i am, you cant get the working permit without this letter of recommendation. but as i guess we all know things can change!

your point on number 3 really scares me...are you saying i wouldn't be allowed back into the country at all? or just made to have my visa revoked thus forcing me to leave, but then being able to come back if i were to find a new position or on a marriage L visa?

aslo, what if im in the process of changing onto a marriage L visa and the hotel go to the police to cancel my visa. what happens in that circumstance?

thanks for your thoughts and opinions! :)
