The Tian Tang (Jiuzhai Paradise Intercontinental) is a very nice hotel. It has its own nature reserve out the back as well! There is good shopping opportunities for Tibetan trinkets - make sure you bargain! You can get some nice Tibetan clothes made as well if you have the time.
