What would be the best way (fastest and cheapest) way to go to Alishan from Taipei.  I prefer to take high speed rail.  Thank you.

Hi,Haslinda. As I know, there is no high speed light rail from Taipei to Alishan. You can take coach bus directing to Alishan at Taipei West Station. The trip takes five hours and forty-five minutes with a stop at Jiayi. The trip should be reserved in advance. The bus starts at 20:45 every Friday and Saturday from Taibei and returns at 12:30 the next day. The trip takes about 6 hours. The return ticket costs TWD1000.
