About:Exit Regulations of China

hi, I'm a resident of Hong Kong and also America. I'm traveling in China with my Hong Kong exit and entry card. I plan to exit China by flight from Guilin to Kuala Lumpur, but I don't have a Hong Kong passport. I plan to use my US passport. Will I run into trouble? Thanks for your help.
