Question

I am an Australian citizen working in Japan. I have a one year visa which expires in December. So I won't have a re-entry permit as I am not coming back to Japan. I intend to leave Japan in November and travel to china by boat. After travelling through China, I will cross to Vietnam. Do I need the actual boat ticket to apply for the tourist visa? Do I need to show a hotel booking? Since I will travel overland out of China, I don't have an onward ticket. Do I need to show my ticket from Vietnam to Australia? Thankyou.
