About:Chinese Embassy in Switzerland

We have Swiss Passports and live in Switzerland, and will be joining a cruise ship which will visit Shanghai for 12 hours in February.
Do we need a Visa? I not that Switzerland has joined Schengen, which seems to exempt some countries from visas for a short time.

You'd better contact the cruise ship to make it clear. As I know, visa is not required of aliens who hold final destination tickets and have booked seats on international airliners flying directly through China, and will stay in a transit city for less than 24 hours without leaving the airport. You will join a cruise ship, so I don't know your situation whether you need a visa or not.
