About:Chinese Embassy in U.K.

I am an academic who will be presenting at an educational conference in Beijing at the end of October. I have Permanent Residency in the UK but have a Malaysia passport. Would I need a Business or Tourist visa? If a Business visa, what additional information would I need to show proof of my planned activities? Thanks in advance.
