About:Chinese Embassies and Consulates

Hello, I'm here to seek advice regarding my “Chinese friend” who "helped" me to process my Police Clearance in Shanghai Notary Public Office. Actually I've known this "friend" for so long. She's a very good friend to me when I was still working in China. But for this time, what she did was so improper. She told me that the POLICE CLEARANCE costs 480 Yuan, but when I called that office I've learned that it's only 350yuan, not only that, I even called the FEDEX service center to ask how much does it cost for sending my 0.5 kgs documents from Shanghai to ________. It only costs 165yuan and she said again it’s 350 Yuan. I feel so disappointed with this Chinese girl, I do have big respect on her and even trust her so much because she's a TEACHER. It makes me think that this kind of action is not good because she's not only destroying her image and dignity but also putting doubt on the Shanghai Notary Public Office and FEDEX quality service.. As a Christian foreigner, it makes me feel so uncomfortable of what she did. I’m not thinking about the excess money I sent to her, what I’m concern most is the action she did to a foreigner who doesn’t speak Chinese well. I hope this is a “wake up call” to her that she should not do these bad deeds especially to foreigners. I’m just wondering, do I need to inform the Chinese Embassy with this matter or directly call the Police Station?

Ms. Fahlyn,

Maybe your friend didn't go to apply for the Police Clearance certificate for you on her own. She might entrust some agency to handle the application. So the agency may charge some handling fees.
