About:Chinese Embassy in Australia

I am visiting my daughter & son-in-law in Shanghai. They both are resident in China but Australian citizens. I am planning to be there for up to 1 year to assist with the birth & care of my first grandchild. Could you please advise which visa category I should apply for and; if a tourist visa is the only way forward, how I can manage being able to stay for up to 3/4months at a time??
