About:Chinese Embassies and Consulates

To Whom It May Concern,

I'm Estefanie B. Vinluan, and I was formerly an ESL Teacher in China. I just want to inquire regarding a police clearance/police certificate that I got from SHANGHAI NOTARY PUBLIC OFFICE dated April 11,2008. How long does it expire? Or do I need to renew it?I will be having an interview on September 9, 2009 in the US Embassy Manila, Philippines, I'm just wondering, does the embassy consider my police clearance valid until my interview date? If not, what will be the steps how to obtain it ? Pls do reply. Your help will be highly appreciated.

Feichang gan xie,
Mrs. Estef

I think there isn't any validity for the police clearance, in another words, it is valid for ever.

Thanks for the reply... I just had a talk with the US Embassy call center representative, she told me to get a new one coz the one I got is already expired...Usually, police clearance expires every year...I just don't know how to renew it...It's so pitiful coz it's really hard to get docs from chinese people...huhuhu

And even the people in the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines couldn't give me any help or even a specific instruction..I'm just so depressed about it..I guess, the only way to resolve it is to go back to SHanghai and do the same procedure I did before..uhuhuhu

Mrs estef, if the embassy clerk said that the police clearance has expired, you can just renew it from the China embassy. If the embassy can't do this for you, they should tell you where and how to renew it.

I UNDERSTAND WHAT U HAVE SAID SIR...but the problem is, they can't entertain your question via telephone...I've tried it many times but they asked me to dial that number but actually it's not working..you can give a try to call them so I can be able to prove of what I'm saying..Anyway, Even though they didn't give me specific instructions..One of my Shanghainese friends helped me to do it directly in Shanghai Notary Public Office..Thanks for the reply..
