About:Chinese Jade

I have a jade carp pendant with a gold bale attachment that I have had for 30 years. I have had jewelers here in the U.S. look at it but they are not experts, and all they say is that it is a nice piece. My chinese friends also say it is a nice piece and very well done. I have never seen another one like it. I never remove it because, in the words of "The Book of Rites" "A gentleman must wear a jade pendant... He should not take off his jade pendant without good reason,".

Mr. Dan Miller,
You should take good care of your jade carp pendant cos it means 'alive and healthy' in chinese. If u have been wearing it for so long, it must has become part of you, grow and glow with you as we believe jade has 'life'.

Ms. May Tan,
Thank you for your reply. I have always treasured my pendant and always will. I may be an American, but I have often thought that I have a Chinese soul. How can 5000 years of tradition and accumulated knowledge be wrong? My brother just returned from Hangzhou and tells me he is always amazed at how much Americans and Chinese are alike.
