About:Chinese Embassy in Canada

Dear Madam or Sir: I am a Canadian citizen and a university professor. I have been invited to attend a conference in Beijing on November 5, 2009. I booked my travel to arrive on November 4 and leave on November 7. Do I need a single entry visa? Will the 3 months duration start counting from the date the visa is issued or from the date of arrival? May I come in person to the embassy in Ottawa with the complete application or should I send the passport and documents via my travel agent? Thank you in advance for answering my questions.

Mr.Franco, yes, you need a single entry F visa. The 3 months is the validity that is counted from the date the visa is issued. You can look the Chinese visa sample on this website https://www.travelchinaguide.com/embassy/visa/intro.htm

Owing to the 60th anniversary of PR.China, maybe the valiidty will be lessened to 1 month. So please first inquire the visa officer the visa validity. If you apply for it too early, the visa will be expired before you enter China.

You can come in person to the embassy in Ottawa to submit the application, or you can send the passport and documents by your travel agency. Both is Ok.
