Hey<

Shi Huangdi made some decisions that the ancient Chinese thought made life harder for them. He may have been cruel in some ways, e.g. when he banished or killed the Confucian scholars and burned their books but he only did this to prevent an uprising. He was simply doing what was best for Qin. Another example was that every male between seventeen and sixty was sentenced to one year of military service. This was also only done for the good of Qin, to start construction on the Great Wall. This was to keep barbarians from invading. (www.absoluteastronomy.com/topics/Qin_Dynasty, 1999). Without the construction of the Great Wall many people would die. The so called cruel decisions Shi Huangdi made, created a better life for the Chinese people in the long run e.g. the Chinese have been protected by the great wall for hundreds of years.

The First Emperor of Qin, named Ying Zheng, was a completely a tyrant. He was fascinated by governing the country by his law which was legislated by himself, not by a parliament. The First Emperor of Qin is somewhat like the Charlie I who is the King of England in 1630s. He used to control his people without mercy, instead by violence. According to Chinese tradition, a citizen must not opposite to his king, so the people in China had to obey what the emperor told them to do even if the law was cruel and unreasonable. For example,A band of soldiers was going to the Great Wall for defence. However, they were delayed by a series of heavy rain in a village named Dazexiang. According to the law, they would be senteced to death if they did not arrive in time. Whether they arrive or rebel, the soldiers will all be killed. Therefore, it was obvious that the only opportunity to be alive is to rebel. So the captain of the soidiers began to rebel against the emperor. It is natural that almost all Chiese hated the emperor and a great many people got hold of their weapons to fight with Qin's soldier.
