For all visits into China an L visa is required. The only exception is if you are holding a valid passport from Japan, Brunei, or Singapore and will be visiting China for less than 15 days.

Could you please indicate your nationality? Citizens from some country can visit China without visa for a certain period, from 30 to 90 days according for different countries.
