my main concern about travelling in china is the language barrier. how does one get around it? Or can one?

Hi, the easiest one should be have your guide together. But, like Beijing and Shanghai, the English pulic service is not so bad.
I had an excellent travel in China thanks for my friendly and knowledgeable guide-Jim~
