Yes, you are probably right, but you may be also asked to provide the round-way air tickets and hotel reservation.

The embassy may require the printed ones.

The hotel said they send the confrimation by email only. The web site for the embassy says a hotel reservation certificate is necessary but only for people with a longer than 1 year visa in Japan. The translation in English is also wrong because the Chinese says hotel reservation `proof` which I assume would be an email.

Also, my airline ticket is an e-ticket so perforce there is no paper ticket. Its only on the internet. I`m getting really confused.

You can contact the China embassy where you will apply for the visa for the final answer, for they will grant you the visa anyway.
