Yes, you need 2 different visas to mainland China and HK.
For Visa to Shenzhen, you need the documents below:
1. Your passport with blank pages and at least 6 months validity left before expiration.
2. A truly and completely filled application form affixed with one passport-sized photo.
3.A Visa Notification Form issued by Chinese authorized unit.
4. Invitation letter from the organizer of the conference.
5. Round-trip air ticket and hotel reservation.
For the visa to HK, you have to prepare the following documents:
1. A completely filled application form (ID 1003A which can be be downloaded from www.immd.gov.hk.
).
2. Proof of adequate funds to cover the duration of his/her stay without working;
3. An onward ticket to the place of your destination.
4. Your recent photograph (affixed on page 1 of the application form ID 1003A)
5. Photocopy of the applicant's travel document containing personal particulars, date of issue, date of expiry and/or details of any re-entry visa held (if applicable)
6. Photocopy of proof of the proposed visit to Hong Kong (for purposes of visit other than leisure, transit, business or family visit).
