About:Chinese Embassy in Japan

Hello,

I am a British citizen. I am planning a round the world trip with a couple of weeks spent in Beijing. I have been told that I shouldn't apply for a Visa more than 3 months in advance. (I will be in China in about 9 months time). Before China I will be in Japan, can I apply for a Chinese Visa whilst i'm in Japan?
