Of course, people of non-Chinese nationality do need a Chinese Visa to enter China. To successfully apply for a Chinese Visa, you need to provide a valid passport, filled application form, and photos in person or through a third person. The process usually takes 5-7 working days. By the way, only yellow fever vaccination certificates are required from travelers from infected area. I do suggest you follow the suggestions of your doctors.
