Suggest you stay to the city center, because it is easier to go to the Terra Cotta from the city center. What's more, there is no well hotels for the site is in the northeast suburbs of Xian. I wandering if you get to Nanjing the other day by train, you can find a hotel near Xian Railway Station and if you are leaving by air, you can stay at the Bell Tower area for there is direct shuttle bus at Meloday Hotel.

Terracotta is far away from the city,and hte night won't be very safe. So my suggestion is to reserve a hotel near the railway station and you can pick up the travel bus which cost RMB 27 near the station.The detial information can be found in the web.Or you can call 114 for the transport information, too .

By the way , you can get back by the same travel bus(every 20 min ).And Huaqing Hot Spring is also on your way to the Terra Cotta. If you will get back to NJ by air.Get the same travel bus and take NO600 bus in the railway station and get off at Bell Tower.You can get the direct shuttle bus at Meloday Hotel.But remenber the go-off of the bus is every one hour....Have a nice day~!
