Hi,I was wondering if anyone can tell me what is the best way to get from Shanghai to West Lake in HangZhou.  Thanks

Take trains (bullet trains recommended: 1.5 hours only)to Hangzhou Railway Station which is often called Chengzhan Railway Station by the locals. After getting off the railway station, you can find Bus 7, K7, Y2, J5 to West Lake area. You can get off at Su Di, or Lingyin Temple.

Can I take this trip for only one day?  My friend and I are interested in taking that boat ride on the canal.  Then we want to return to shanghai.  Is that posssible?

One day for the West Lake is enough if you want to the Canal, you should end the trip around the Lake earlier.
