Dunhuang: caves must be viewed with the afternoon sun-with September being the last month when the sun lights the caves? At the rate of maybe 10 caves per day don't we need at least two days for the Mogao caves? how many are open to tourists?

One day is enough for you to visit the Mogao caves. Generally, there are 10-15 caves opening to visitors, which will cost you about 2-3 hours. And there are some special caves, if you want to visit them, the extra price is CNY150.00-CNY200.00 per cave per person.
