About:Chinese Embassy in Vietnam

(I somehow posted this as a reply instead of an independent thread - I'll try again)

Hi,

I've tried to Skype the Chinese Embassy in Hanoi, however, somehow the number doesn't work.

I'm thinking about travelling to Vietnam next week, however, I have to get back into China since my flight back home is from Beijing.

Can anyone tell me whether the Chinese Embassy in Hanoi currently is issuing L (= tourist) visas to China? Either by experience or by contacting them. Normally you would assume they do but I'm not so sure after having read some of the posts below.

Quick replies would be appreciated since I have to buy the tickets for Hanoi soon.

Btw, I have a Danish passport.

Cheers,
Dan

The Chinese Embassy in Hanoi currently does issue L tourist visa to China.
The phone number of the Consular Office is 84-4-8235569.

And this is 100% sure - have you been in contact with them? I tried to Skype the number - but it simply says that the number does not exist. How annoying. I'm sorry for all this double-checking but it would cost me a fortune if things went wrong.

The reason why I'm double checking is the posts below saying that the Chinese Embassy in Hanoi currently does not issue L visas.

I tred to get a tourist visa yesterday at Chinese embassy in Hanoi along with various other prospective tourists. We were all told we could not get one in Hanoi. The security gaurd told me to go to Ho Chi Minh City, andthe counter operative said it had to be from my home country! I might try Hong Kong to get in, but this may also prove fruitless?

You can try to confirn this with the Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China in Ho Chi Minh City firstly, if they can process the visa for you, you won't have to go to HK anymore.
In principle, you can get the China visa in HK.

I have some embassy friends who helped me contact the Chinese Embassy in Hanoi - and they were given the same information. Foreigners cannot pick up a tourist L visa to China - for whatever reason. You can definitely get a Chinese visa in Hong Kong - I got a 2-entries x 30 days visa from the Chinese Embassy not too long ago. First try the Chinese Embassy - and if that doesn't work (which I'm sure it will) then just google "chinese visa hong kong" and loads of agents should pop up. I've only had good experiences with agents getting the visa for me. It's a bit more expensive - but they can always get it for you. Otherwise, try to check www.chinese-forums.com and look at the forum dedicated to visa questions. I even think that they still do express visas in the Hong Kong airport where you can get it within a few hours. Good luck! I'm sure it'll work out.
