How long will you stay in China when you come back from Japan? If you just get a shift from Beijing Airport for less than 24 hours and won't move out of the airport, no visa will be needed again.

If you are in China now, you can go to the Entry and Exit Management Division of the local Public Security Bureau to apply the visa for your return to China.

Then, you can apply a new visa for your return to China from the Chinese embassy in Japan.
