I saw a travel programme on TV and the guy traveled from Shanghai on the Yangtze River into Vietnam. My husband said he'd like to do this so I am just making enquiry here?

The Yangtze River traverses from the West China to East China. It originates from the Tanggula Range in Qinghai Province, and  flows into the East Sea from Shanghai. There is no Yangtze River Cruise can reach Vietnam. I guess you misremember the river?
