About:Chinese Embassy in U.K.

Hi,
I am currently working in China on a Z visa, and the visa is due to expire at the end of next month. I'm not looking to get another job after my Z visa expires, but I would like to get a tourist visa for 3 months so that I can travel around before going home. Do you know how I can go about this? Do I have to go to Hong Kong? Will I be able to go there a week before my Z visa expires to get a new tourist visa, or do I have to go on the day it expires?

You don't have to go to HK for applying the tourist visa of China, Just go to the local security authorities for help before the visa expires.
