will be reaching Shanghai on 1st August 09 with my wife & daughter & stay there for4 days and proceed to beijing and stay for 4 days before returning back to India.1. !want to know cheap airlines to fly from Shanghai to beijing 2. language problem in these cities, & how to solve? 3.Weather during early August 4. availability of vegetarian food. 5. reasonably good hotel ,not too expensive, near the commercial center.6.How expensive are the taxis, and do the drivers know english.

August is the travel high season. I am afraid there will no good discount air ticktes. You may take the overnight soft sleeper train which is convenient and cheap, cost at about 500RMB. Most youngsters in Beijing and Shanghai can speak English. August will be very hot in these cities. Easy to find vegetarian food, take it easy. The taxi fee is about 10-15Yuan/ per km and the drivers don't know any English. You'd better take a card with the Chinese names of your destinations.
