I am an Italian citizen and an American one, with 2 passports, who resides permanently in Japan. Can I apply for a tourist visa to visit China using my Italian passport if my Japanese permament residency visa is attached to my American passport? Thank you.

We're sorry to inform you that only aliens holding Japanese long-stay visa )more than one year) could apply China L tourist visa from the Chinese embassy in Tokyo.

Thank you for your response Mr. Dale (or is it just Dale?), but you seem to have misunderstood my question. I am a permanent resident in Japan, so obviously I have a "long-stay visa." Have much longer can you get than forever?

Dear Schreiber, sorry for my mistake. If so, you could apply the China visa in Chinese embassy in Japan. Welcome!

Yes, but can I apply as an Italian citizen, and pay only 4,000 yen, even though my Japanese visa was issued to me as an American?

Maybe you have to use your American passport, for your Japanese visa is based on it.
