I have heard that you can go ice skating on the lakes in Beijing. We would love to do this one afternoon that we have free. Can you please tell us if we can do so? If we can, where is the best place to go and how much would it be for rental.

You may go to the Houhai Park and it will take you 10-15 minutes to reach there by taxi from city center. Taking a taxi will cost you about CNY20. Renting a pair of skating shoes will cost you CNY10- CNY20 per hour. But as the winter is warmer and warmer nowadays, you may not have the chance to skate outside. Anyway, the area near Houhai is also a good place to wander about.
