About:China Business Visa

I am a US citizen and have had a residence visa in Shanghai for four years. I recently changed jobs. The new company has an office in Shanghai and I spend about 50% of my time here. However my residence permit just expired. My boss here does not want to support new residence permit (they are strangly worried about some tax issue), they will only support business visa (z). I notice in an earlier response by Mr Shane that if one owns property here it is possible to get residence visa. My wife and I own an apt in Suzhou (it is in her name though). Is it possible to use this to renew the residence permit? or what are my other options?

Actuallly, you could go to the Entry-Exit Department of Shanghai Municipal Public Security Bureau to apply for the extension of your residence permit.
