You can arrange you route like: Hangzhou - Shanghai - Suzhou - Wuxi - Nanjing. You can take bullet trains from Hangzhou to Shanghai, then to Suzhou, Wuxi and Nanjing all the way. It is faster and very comfortable. Or you can take buses, either. For budget Hotel, you can find some comfort Inn.
