About:Apply for China Visa in a Third Country

Hi,I am a Malaysia passport holder residing in Shanghai. My passport is expiring on 03Feb2010. However, I plan to fly back to Malaysia in Sep2009. In this case, should I renew my passport in Shanghai before 03Aug2009 or I can do it in Malaysia when I am back there?

To apply for a Chinese visa, you are required to hold a passport, which must have at least 6 months validity left before expiration. That is to say, you can use your existing passport to apply for a Chinese visa before August 3, 2009. If you don't apply for any visa, you can go back to Malaysia to apply for that visa.

Hi Mr. George, thanks for your info but perhaps I am in the wrong category as I am not applying for a visa. I already have my China working visa. It is only my passport expiring soon which raise my concern if I could get out of China or enter Malaysia with my passport with less than 6 months validity. I am considering if it is a must that I renew my passport in Shanghai before my home trip.
