About:Map of China Provinces & Cities

Hello, I'll be arriving from Dubai to China from 31 July thru 14 August. I need to know how far on the train form Hongkong to Shenzen, then Shenzen to Shanghai, then Shanghai to Beijing. Is there train to all these cities?
I only have about 3 days in each city. I'm a US passport holder. Please advise where to get visa. I do not want to mail out my passport. I was told I can arrive in Hongkong and get visa there, then enter
China from Hongkong; if that is so, please how long will it take to receive visa in Hongkong.
thank you,
Virginia

Although Shenzhen neighbors on Hong Kong, the Kowloon-Guangzhou Through Train doesn't stop at Shenzhen. So, you can take a train to get to Guangzhou first and then go to Shenzhen from Guangzhou by bullet train. Then, go to Shanhhai by train and go to Beijing by train.
US passport holder can go to Hong Kong without a visa, as Hong Kong is a special region of China. But you need a China visa when you go to Shenzhen in China mainland. You can apply a China Visa in Hong Kong.
