About:Chinese Embassies in Asia

I am an author invited by the Philippine Consulate General to attend Philippine independence day celebrations from June 4 to 9. I will be doing a book signing at a Filipino-Chinese gathering on the 7th. Will I get a tourist or business visa? Do I need to make a personal appearance? My 21 year old son is accompanying me. Thank you.

You need an F (business) visa. The consulate should give you an invitation letter. You don't have to go to the embassy to apply in person. Probably, your son can also obtain an F visa.
