About:Chinese Embassy in Japan

My son is an American Passport holder. He will study in Beijing next year on an exchange program. He lives in Okinawa Japan. What is the simplest way to apply and receive a student visa to study in China. Does he have to physically go to the Chinese Embassy or one the consulates in Japan, or can he send the application another way?

Can your son apply for the X visa abroad? Generally speaking, X visa is not easy to get at a Chinese embassy outside your home country. If the application for X visa is available at the Chinese consulates in Japan, your son is advised to send his application in person.
