About:Chinese Embassy in Australia

Can you please clear up some confusionfor me. I want to meet a family member in China who owes me money. My problem is I have been told I wont be able to take tyhis repaymenty $US out of China? to bring back to Australian? Is this correct?

What is the amount of cash? You can take a maximum amount of CNY 40,000 in cash out of China.
