About:Chinese Embassy in Malaysia

To whom it may concern,

I am studying Mandarin in Beijing, China this Sept 2009 and would like to enquire if I should be getting the F or X visa. I will initially be studying for about 5 months and may continue studying for an additional 5 months.

The university says I can get either the F or X visa. Also, how much does it cost for the visa? And can I get the visa done through a travel agency? Please confirm. Thank you very much:)

For short-term study( less than 6 months), you are supposed to hold an F visa. I think the admission notice will specify the duration of your study in China. You can entrust an agency to apply on your behalf.
