About:Chinese Embassy in Indonesia

Hi,
I am holder of Indonesian passport currently studying in the USA with F1 Visa. I got an invitation for a conference in Beijing. I was told that I can only get the visa for china if I apply in China Embassy in Indonesia. Is that correct? If so, can I send my application by mail? And also, what type of visa do I need to apply for a conference? Thanks in advance for your response.

Usually, you can obtain the F visa at a Chinse embassy outside your home country by holding a residence permit in USA and an invitation letter from China. It is not sure if the Chinese embassy in Indonesia accept mail-in application, but you can send the documents to your friends or relatives in Indonesia to ask them to hand in your application on your behalf.
