About:Chinese Consulate in Vancouver

I just want to ask where I should go to renew my chinese passport. Should I go to West Broadway or in Granville? Likewise,Can I do it now because it will expire in October 2009. Thanks.

Either West Broadway or Granville is okay for your renewal of passport. If you want to apply for a visa in April or May, you'd better renew your passport now. Since for visa application, your passport must have at least six months validity period left before expiration.

A word of advice if you don't want to be turned away when you get to the front desk. Make sure you have the correct sized chinese passport photos (they are not the same size as canadian passport photos or even chinese visa photos), bring photocopies of the first two pages of your current chinese passport, photocopies of the front and back of your Canadian PR card (if you have one), and the application form. Get there early if you're going to the Broadway location in Vancouver (8:30AM at latest) because the line is very long. There is a small digital photo store one block west of the consulate on Broadway that knows exactly what size photos and what photocopies you need. We had to go there when our photos were the wrong size.
