Hi Mr Xhinh

I am interested to offer my help in tracing your root in China.

First of all, I need your surname in Chinese... is it
邢 ? Most (if not all) of those Chinese bearing this surname orignated from Hainan Island.

Next find out as much info as possible from your father or relatives about their village in China. Let me have your email address so that I can communicate with you offline on the next step of tracing

Dear Mr.X Hinh,

May I know how can I help you? Do you know your surname in Chinese? Did your father tell you anything about his story in Hainan? I know a place called "WenChang City" (Chinese: 文昌) where most of my father's migrated friends are from. Maybe you can check from here or do you still have any relatives in Hainan?

I haven't been there before but it is not far away from HAIKOU. It's not a place that the normal Hainan tour will cover.

I hope the above info will help.

P/S: WENCHANG , a decent-sized county town 70km southeast of Haikou, is known to the Chinese as the birthplace of the sisters Song Qingling and Song Meiling , respective wives to Sun Yatsen and Chiang Kaishek.

Cheers,
Joe

Hello Mr. Hinh,
Your Surnmae sounds like Heng. In the city of WenChang next to the Confucian Temple is the Heng Family Ancenstral Temple. Go there the caretake or anyone from the temple could trace you to your ancestral village. WenCheng is a small town and everyone is very friendly and would gladly help you. There is a problem here do you speak hainanese it would be easier, but the younger locals could speaks English fluently. I was there in 2003. 2007, and 2008 what is how I found my ancestor village. Look luck
