i am ghanaian in china and have overstayed for 10months in china,please i want to go home,how can i obtained an exit visa without passport and not be put in prison.

You are likely to be fined for your overstaying. What's wrong with your passport? I think you must need a passport at least for your exit. Very likely, you can resort to your country's embassy in China. They may repatriate you.
